2010 ReCapture

Dearest Friends and Family!

2010 has been a year of changes for the Weber family: a move, a job change, and a wedding. We began the New Year finishing up the remodel in the house we were renting in Anchorage. The projects were finished in May, then it was time to begin showing off our hard work and the house was put up for sale. We prayed it would sell at the perfect time for our landlady and for us.

The first 2 weeks the house was for sale we flew to Sisters, OR for Katie (Jordan's baby sister) Weber's wedding. It was the most elegant wedding I've ever been to and the joy on that day was tangible. It is breathtaking to watch two God-revering hearts become one. While we were there, I was able to steal a couple of days away to visit my best friend, Lauren, in Salem, OR :) I was also able to pack up, then mail the rest of our belongings from the storage unit we rented in Salem to Alaska. We are now completely moved from Oregon!

The summer consisted of much work and, to our surprise, much play as well. Two trips to Port Alsworth, a backpacking trip through Johnson's Pass, disc golf, fishing, canoe trip with my brother and Danis, and to top it all off was a visit from Jordan's parents in the fall.

We got the news in July that the project on base was finishing up with nothing lined up for afterward, which meant Jordan would be having his last day of work for McGee Industries much sooner than planned. We knew the Lord was in control, but kept praying doors would open because we had no clue where the next step would lead. Fortunately my husband had quite a reputation with McGee and his was kept on, even after they were no longer on base, to work on odd jobs for the company. In September, we decided to make the move to Soldotna and look for jobs there. Soldotna Dental Arts was what God had in mind for my new job, they were even willing to wait for me to move and visit with my in-laws. Jordan's job was over the week before his parents came and the week after their visit I started my new job. During my first week at the dental office, Jordan moved us out of our rental home in Anchorage.

We have thoroughly enjoyed living on the Kenai Peninsula these past couple months. We feel as if we've finally found our nest and settled in. Most of our time is spent with the Smithwick family and it has been such a blessing to have them around to help us transition into Peninsula life. Jordan is still looking for a job and started school up again in early February. He hopes to have his degree finished by June through online courses. He also has been offered the opportunity to help my Uncle Jeremey with his hunts this spring. In the meantime, he LOVES being out of the city and has already severely depleted our bunny population. My work at Soldotna Dental Arts is going well. I just got a raise and my boss says I'm far beyond where she's expected me to be after only a few months. The owners like to crosstrain their employees, so I've been able to assist the Dr. with procedures here and there. I think promoting to a Dental Assistant one day wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Oh, and we get to visit the beautiful state of Hawaii March 21!!! We are meeting our dear friends, Jason and Lauren Bernard, there :) The first 5 days we spend with them in Maui and then the last 5 days we are priveledged to stay with Grandad and Grandma MJ in Kona.!

With this New Year under way, I pray that the God of Hope will fill you all with joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

New Home

Goodness. Aunt Mindy is right...a LOT has happened and it's time for an update :)

We are officially living in Sterling, AK!! Last night was our first night in our new home. We are so thankful that the grandparents are letting us live here!! Last week was the first at my new job. I am now a receptionist at Soldotna Dental Arts. Its a new practice located on the left hand side of the Kenai Spur Highway heading towards Kenai. Everyone is super nice and patient with me as I am not only learning receptionist duties, but dental terms and processes as well. Sometimes I feel as if I'm back in school, but with hands-on tests everyday. Thankfully they aren't expecting much from me these first few weeks.

While I worked my first week I stayed at Jenny's and Jordan was in Anchorage packing all our stuff. This last weekend I traveled to Anchorage to help load the last of our things and we watched Robbie be amazing in football!!! GREAT JOB SOHI!!!!! We left a clean, empty house last night and drove South to our new home.

Jordan's parents came for a visit and we had so much fun with them! Most of the time we spent in Soldotna showing them around our new home. We looked at real estate, ate great food, went antiquing, went to a fall festival party, watched football and cross country running, and went to Homer, which was probably my favorite day! It was absolutely gorgeous, we went to a bunch of cute little shops and ended our day at a winery :) We can't wait until they come again!

Ever-Changing Plans ;)

Ok, are you ready for our big news? We're moving to Kenai :D Jordan's Elmendorf Base project is finishing up and there are no other projects until possibly spring, so we thought, "what better time to capitalize on our dream to move to the peninsula?" My mom's parents are leaving for the winter on a road trip, so we get to rent out their gorgeous house while we figure out our next step. We both have lots of job options, but nothing is for sure yet. If anyone has any ideas please help! Jordan isn't sure he wants to go down the construction road again, but it is nice to have that as a sort of backup plan! I finally get to quit Starbucks!! I am thrilled, but suprisingly sad to leave. It's been a great 3 years and a blanket of security for both Jordan and I. Now we are stepping off the ledge and into the great unknown with none but the Almighty as our perfect guide! I believe us to be in good hands ;) Please pray for us as there are many decisions to be made in the next month!

Our tentative plan is to be moved sometime in October, we are trying to leave it all very open in case something comes up. Jordan's parents come to visit October 1st and we can't wait! It will be wonderful to show them around the state we've come to love.

As you can see through the last few sets of pictures I've posted, we have had a wonderful summer despite the rain! It has been wonderful being able to enjoy what the summers of Alaska have to offer us. I think that my most favorite memory was being able to go on a canoe trip with my brother and his girlfriend, Danis, before they left for Ohio. Here are a few pictures...

Springtime in AK

Hello :) Its a beautiful day in Alaska! We had a snowstorm yesterday and today I woke up to gorgeous sunny melting weather. You come to expect the unpredictable weather living up here. It gets pretty ridiculous sometimes.

Being a shift supervisor has been wonderful so far! I have loved doing something different and not being on the floor quite so much. My duties are more money and deployment focused nowadays. I spend my day directing people and making sure the store runs smoothly. I have been able to work more hours, which makes the small pay raise well worth it. My shift is normally the open shiftwhich starts at 4:30am, so we go to bed real early around here. I get off around 1 at the latest which is when i get to do housework or hang out with my mom or make dinner before Jordan comes home, so its been working out well.

Jordan's work has been going well, but we're coming up on a very uncertain future. The base project will be ending in a couple weeks, then Jordan goes to Oregon for the month of May to work for his dad. I get to join him May 18 for a couple weeks. His sister, Katie, will be getting married May 30. It will be so nice to see the in-laws and help with wedding stuff. We are super excited for her :D After the wedding we return to AK (June 2) and supposedly there will be some last minute finish work/cleaning at the base project to do for a couple weeks. Then...nothing. No one knows of any work lined up after that, so Jordan is trying to decide if we should stick around and hope another base job is the answer (talk is that this may be a possibility) or work on an odd job they may have for him or if we should try our luck on the Kenai Peninsula, which is where we are hoping to move to in the near future anyways.

We had a wonderful Easter with the family on the peninsula. I've been working on adress for Katie's wedding and finishing up the house projects in my spare time. Jordan's been to a sportsman's show and growing a beard for awhile now...its HUGE!! My man has acclimated to AK quite well and if you didn't know any better one would believe he was "Alaskan Grown" I think.


Happy Spring Everyone!

My friend Megan, from work, hosted a tea party for a few of us girls! It made me feel like a little girl again. We had cucumber sandwiches, tea from all over the world, and watched "the man from snowy river". It was amazing girl time!

One of my first days as a shift supervisor, I came out of the bathroom to find that a car had rammed into the glass window!! Supposedly he thought he was in neutral and leaned over to grabbed something while taking his foot of the clutch, well he was in drive, so the car lurched forward into the window!! Costly mistake if you ask me ;) I made a lot of phone calls and had a lot of help from a seasoned supervisor on the floor, but ,needless to say,it was a crazy day!!

I got to be with my sister at the "getting ready party" this year! It was so fun to be a part of it

January 2010

Well I got the promotion!! I start training on Thursday and got a $1.00 raise :D Thanks for all your prayers and support! I'm so excited yet very nervous!!!

We got a deadline slapped on us concerning the house...we needed to get all painting done by yesterday so our landlady could put the house on the market. Needless to say I've been painting my life away for a month and sadly its still not quite done. Just the touch-ups after mudding/texturing, so we're close!

Jordan's sticking with his job for now, but has his eyes peeled for something new.

My Aunt Jessica is in town for awhile and its been so fun to see her! She's been in Guam for the past year because her husband is stationed there. She came in this last weekend and its been wonderful hanging out with her again :D

2010's been filled with work, basketball, homecoming!, and friends! We're still enjoying all Alaska has to offer :) ps - I posted a couple pictures below

A quick update from last post...our dog had a full recovery :D and Jordan's tooth is all better :D


This Christmas was wonderful! I just loved being with my family again :) We had our immediate family Christmas Tuesday night with a fabulous dinner and creme brulee for dessert! Wednesday afternoon we left for the Peninsula to join the extended families in their celebrations. We ate a LOT of food, had tons of parties, and opened gobs of presents. My Uncles Jason and Matt brought their newborn twins (Cate and Carter) to Alaska for a couple weeks and my Auntie Michelle and Uncle Jeremy just had their baby boy Warren, so we had 3 newborns under the same roof. so fun!

Jordan left me the day after Christmas to visit his folks for a week....i wish i could've gone! I miss them so much :( He had a blast coyote hunting, watching football with his dad, meeting his sister's boyfriend, and seein' old friends.

For New Years I headed down to the Peninsula again with my sisters, brother and his girlfriend. My parents joined us later, but they missed out on games and a delicious meal. We had fireworks and a live show from Recall (my brother and cousin Robbie's band). The girls and I then headed over to hot tub @ Grandad's so we didn't sleep til about 3:30! I haven't done that since college I think...so I'm still recovering :D




Now Jordan's home and we're back to work...so hard after such fun! I've been talking with my boss lately and have decided to take the promotion when/if they offer it. I should know more tomorrow. A promotion to start the new year? I like it :D Jordan's starting to feel ready for a new job, so be praying for him as he finds out what's next. Happy New Year Everyone!
